Sally McKeown is a trainer and journalist, offering informed comment on all matters concerning educational technology and special needs, including dyslexia.

As well as delivering keynote presentations and workshops in the UK and Europe, she is currently engaged in research projects and providing support for schools engaged in BSF.

Sal has taught in schools and colleges, supporting students with a range of learning needs. She has also worked for government agencies and is now a freelance consultant, focusing on dyslexia, gifted and talented, learning disabilities, assistive technology and e-Learning.

Sal writes for the Guardian, Special Children magazine and other educational titles and won the NSE Journalist of the Year award for specialist press (read the article on the journalism page.)

In 2001, her book Unlocking Potential was shortlisted for the NASEN Special Needs Book Award. She is co-author of Supporting Children with Dyslexia (Continuum 2006) with Garry Squires. Her books on Modern Foreign Languages and on ICT (with Mike North) were part of the David Fulton Meeting SEN in the Curriculum series which won the Education Resources Award for Special Needs 2005.

In 2009 Niace published Screens and Pages, which focuses on new technology and the future of reading.
